Crossing borders in every direction, POORBOY PLAYROOMS are an opportunity for artists from any discipline to take part in cross disciplinary collaboration with members of the POORBOY ENSEMBLE and other UK and international invited artists.
Poorboy curates some of the most exciting international cross disciplinary work happening in Scotland through its playrooms. Previous playrooms have seen Poorboy bringing together sculptors, print makers, curators , environmental artists dancers, sound artists, digital content creators, architects, boat builders, traditional and contemporary musicians, playwrights and poets to explore good practice and create artworks and experiences together.
Slide shows, film, temporary exhibitions and a growing body of new writing are all part of the Poorboy archive of playroom created artworks. But perhaps, the most exciting aspect of playrooms is their use of the Poorboy work ethic that puts play at the heart of creation. Many collaborative partnerships in playrooms don’t create a finished artwork but make the most of 8 hours devoted to finding ways of communicating so that artists from across the world can play; realising imaginative, creative, challenging, disciplined and engaging work together.
